Please note: Every service request is unique. Some steps may not apply to your project, and timelines can vary depending on weather, permit approvals, material availability, and the complexity of the work.

Before applying for new electric service with South Kentucky RECC, you must contact your local 911 center (using the non-emergency phone number) to obtain the official 911 service address for the property where service will be established.

Existing Members

If you're already a South Kentucky RECC member, simply give us a call with your membership account information to start the process.

If you have an established good credit history, no deposit will be required. In most cases, everything can be completed over the phone. The primary exceptions are if your service requires a new pole or a temporary meter, in which case you'll need to visit one of our offices.

New Members

If you're not currently a South Kentucky RECC member, you'll need to complete a membership application and pay a one-time $25 membership fee. A deposit may also be required but can often be waived with a satisfactory credit check.

Most new memberships can be completed by phone, mail, or email. As with existing members, you'll need to visit one of our offices if your service requires a new pole or a temporary meter.

Before our Construction Crew can begin work, South Kentucky RECC will contact 811 to have underground utilities located and marked. This important safety step typically takes 3-5 business days to complete. If underground utilities are found in the construction area, additional coordination may be required, which could extend the timeline before construction begins.

After all required steps have been completed, a South Kentucky RECC Construction Crew will come to your property to construct your new electric service. Depending on your project, this may include setting poles, installing overhead or underground electric lines, and completing any other necessary construction before your service can be connected.
