A Message to our Members –

At South Kentucky RECC, our mission has always been to provide safe, reliable, and affordable electricity to the communities we serve. In February of this year, we filed a request with the Kentucky Public Service Commission for a rate adjustment, expected to take effect on or after March 5, 2025. This adjustment is necessary to address the rising costs of power generation, transmission, maintenance of infrastructure, and daily operations so we can continue delivering the dependable service you expect and deserve.

It’s important for our members to know that this request was filed before the tornado in May that damaged our Somerset Headquarters. It is not related in any way to the storm damage or building repairs. South Kentucky RECC has comprehensive insurance coverage in place to address weather events of this nature.

We understand that any increase matters, and as your not-for-profit cooperative, we take this step only after careful consideration. Before seeking an adjustment, we work hard to manage expenses and operate as efficiently as possible. For the average home using 1,019 kWh per month, the proposed adjustment would increase the bill by about $13.79.

Maintaining and improving our system is essential to keeping your power reliable. As always, we are committed to being good stewards of your cooperative—keeping costs as low as possible while ensuring reliability, safety, and long-term strength for our members and communities.
